Old Man Fred

This is a short documentary currently in production. Old Man Fred is a poetic portrait of Fred Homer of Boulder Field Farm in Williamsville, Vermont: an 85-year-old wildlife rehabilitator, woodworker, blacksmith, husband, father, storyteller, and maker of his own rough-hewn coffin, which he stores in his barn next to the avian cages and metalsmithing tools. We film Fred caring for damaged birds until they are ready to fly again, work wood and iron, boil syrup in the sugarbush in spring, and reflect on his life and the land he loves.
